Jerry Holland

Jerry Holland, PE, FACI, is Vice President and Director of Design Services for Structural Services Incorporated. Jerry is located in the Atlanta, Georgia office of SSI. He has over 40 years of worldwide experience in design, construction and troubleshooting concrete materials, floors, pavements, other structures, and related geotechnical problems. He specializes in concrete mixes, floor slabs on ground (including superflat and other specialty floors) and suspended slabs, fiber reinforcement, post-tensioning, shrinkage-compensating concrete, paving and liquid containing structures. He has had projects in every state in the U.S. and on every continent except Antarctica.
 
Holland is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute and a member of ACI 360, Design of Slabs on Grade (Past Chair); ACI 223, Shrinkage-Compensating Concrete; ACI 330, Concrete Parking Lots and Industrial Pavements; ACI 302, Construction of Floors and Slabs; ACI 325, Concrete Pavements; ACI 522, Pervious Concrete; ACI C640, Slab Craftsmen Certification and ACI 350, Environmental Structures. Jerry is also a member of the Post Tensioning Institute Advisory Board. He has authored many articles published in several international publications. These articles included such topics as curling and shrinkage of slabs and the implications of them, cutting-edge analysis and design of slabs, world record floors and pavements, specialty materials, concrete mix designs, and international projects.
 
For many years Jerry has been a speaker at the World of Concrete on topics related to slab design, curling, shrinkage, reinforcing, concrete mix materials and design, associated geotechnical issues, troubleshooting, and remediation. In 1992 he set up the curriculum for the ACI Slab on Ground seminars and has been the coordinator and an instructor for that and other ACI seminar programs ever since. Jerry has presented seminars and assisted in the construction of high tech demonstration slabs all over the world.
 
Another area of his expertise is in the science and art of Value Engineering. He has presented seminars on this topic in several countries and has participated in over 50 value engineering studies, several of which were outside the U.S.
